On May 15th and 16th the Grain Exchange Building
took part in Doors Open Winnipeg put on by Downtown Winnipeg
BIZ and Heritage Winnipeg. We were over whelmed
with the interest in our building as over 800 visitors participated
in the tours throughout the weekend.
Guides and volunteers lead the guests through
the main floor and basement levels of the building, speaking
about the original construction of the building, its architectural
style, and about the Grain and Produce Exchange. Some of the
visitors had worked in the Grain Exchange Building years ago
and were very interested to learn of its history and architectural
style fifty years later. Our guests were delighted with the
tour and hoped the event would be held again soon. We also
look forward to participating in next year's Annual Doors
Open Winnipeg.
