Location Features
The Grain Exchange Building is located in Winnipeg's historic Exchange District.
The area is notable for it's commercial architecture. The durability of these
fine buildings constructed at the turn of the century to serve the city's
booming economy is impressive.
Today, the Exchange District is enjoying an unprecedented revival as all three
levels of government have supported the restoration and renovation of the
district for modern retail and commercial use. Stylish streetscaping and a new
influx of boutiques, night-clubs, restaurants and theaters have made the
Exchange District one of the city's favorite places to work, live, shop and
play.
A passageway connects
the Grain Exchange Building to an underground complex of shops
and restaurants that link all of the modern office towers
that dominate Winnipeg's Portage and Main intersection. These
include Winnipeg Square Shopping Mall, the Commodity Exchange
Tower, the TD Tower and the Fairmont Hotel.
The Grain Exchange Building is also home to the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce.
Bergmann's on Lombard, an award winning catering and banquet establishment,
occupy the space that was formerly the Grain Trading Floor.
